German tour operators offer golf courses in their programmes
Wednesday, Aug 31, 2011
The successful summer season has raised hotel prices and the expectations for a better 2012. “In 2012, we will concentrate on our main partners, on the larger accommodation bases at places where we have larger contingents of tourists,” Kalin Sutev, representative of the German tour operator ITS, told Klassa daily. “Through our other trademark, Jan Reisen, we will offer the golf courses along the northern Black Sea coast as a tourist attraction,” he added. For 2012, we will not limit our offers to the mainstream products and will advertise others as well - such as SPA, balneology and golf. The top tour operators that bring the average tourist to Bulgaria share the opinion that the summer of 2011 is very successful. Therefore, they plan to maintain or even increase the number of booked beds in hotels and airline seats for the next summer season, showed a survey of Klassa. The British tour operator Thomas Cook has announced its plans to retain the same number of beds for 2012 because this summer has been quite successful. “We will be happy to keep the same level," Denitsa Koleva, representative for Bulgaria of Thomas Cook of the German tour operator Neckermann, commented for Klassa. However, it is still early to make predictions about the next tourist season because on the Eastern European markets holidays are booked later and the sales for the summer of 2012 will actually begin after January. Estimated results for summer 2011 - from 10% to 40% growth on different markets “This summer, the number of our tourists from Continental Europe increased by 10% and that of vacationers from the UK - by 40%,” specified Denitsa Koleva. “The crisis in England is not over yet, but the British are accustomed to travel and do not miss the summer holidays. However, Thomas Cook had planned an increase in the number of tourists even before the crisis in Africa began. Most of the clients chose Spain, Turkey, Greece as their holiday destinations and Bulgaria remained on the fourth position,” commented Koleva. “The number of tourists from German-speaking countries increased by 15% on average this summer,” said the ITS representative in Bulgaria Kalin Sutev. The market stirred up because after the crisis in North Africa people redirected to alternative destinations, one of which was Bulgaria. Turkey was the first possible alternative to North African countries, Greece – also, despite the difficult economic situation in the country. Bulgaria comes in the third place. More solvent clients preferred Spain. The German market is one of the most significant for Bulgaria. This year, the number of tourists from Germany will be around 135,000,” explained Sutev. European markets have registered an increase in the number of tourists to Bulgaria, so have the Russian-speaking markets,” said Galin Georgiev, Manager of Solvex, one of the largest travel agencies working with the Russian market. The Romanian market will report a slight decline, predicted Georgiev. However, he said he could not tell what would happen by the end of the season. “In September, things can still change to the opposite direction. Until now, the number of tourists has increased by some 5%-10% on average,” he added. |
